Dr. Mike Evans 1of2
Dr. Mike Evens 2of2
In The Final Move Beyond Iraq, Mike Evans addresses the greatest threat America has faced since the Civil War: the Islamic revolution, or Islamofascism. While the United States debates the best way to solve the situation in Iraq, the terrorists are claiming victory and planning to take their show to American soil once again. Drawing from extensive interviews with prime ministers, CIA directors, and other insiders, Evans looks at the history and ideology behind the Islamic revolution to explore its very real threat to U.S. interests --why radical Islamic terrorists will only step back when they fear us, why victory in Iraq is important to U.S. security, why the United States and Israel cannot sit idly by and let Iran achieve its desire for nuclear weapons, and why stabilization in Iraq now would sound defeat rather than victory. The Final Move Beyond Iraq is a wake-up call to mobilize millions to action. America is fighting for its life in the first war of the twenty-first century.

Ohio Secretary of State (and future Governor)

In
an effort to improve Ohio schools’ classroom performance,
Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell joined First Class
Education National Advisory Chair Patrick Byrne in announcing
the start of an Ohio effort to enact what’s been called
“The 65 Cent Solution.” The proposal would require
every Ohio school district to spend at least 65 cents of
each education dollar on “in the classroom”
instruction, increasing classroom spending by more than
$1.2 billion statewide without a tax increase.
Research shows classroom expenditures are a five times better
indicator of academic improvement than overall spending.
By requiring school districts to allocate a minimum of 65%
of operational budgets to the classroom, we can increase
classroom instruction by over $1.2 billion a year without
a tax increase. That’s enough to purchase a new computer
for every Ohio student or hire 24,000 additional teachers
with a starting salary more than $40,000.

Cons: How Birkenstocked Burkeans, gun-loving organic gardeners,
evangelical free-range farmers, hip homeschooling mamas,
right-wing nature lovers, ... America (or at least the Republican
Party)
What
do you call people who vote for Bush but shop at Whole Foods?
Crunchy cons. And according to Dreher, an editor at the
Dallas Morning News, they're forming a thriving
counterculture within the contemporary conservative movement.
United by a "cultural sensibility, not an ideology,"
crunchy conservatives, he says, have some habits and beliefs
often identified with cultural liberals, like shopping at
agriculture co-ops and rejecting suburban sprawl. Yet crunchy
cons stand apart from both the Republican "Party of
Greed" and the Democratic "Party of Lust,"
he says, by focusing on living according to conservative
values, what the author calls "sacramental" living.
Dreher makes no secret of his own faith in Christianity,
and his book will resonate most with fellow Christians.
His conversations with other crunchy conservatives—e.g.,
the policy director of Republicans for Environmental Protection,
a Manhattan home-schooler, the author's wife—are illuminating,
but the book fails to offer any empirical evidence to connect
these individuals to a wider "movement." Instead,
it works best as an indictment of consumerism and the spiritual
havoc it can wreak. While his complaints about consumer
culture are similar to those advanced by liberals, Dreher
frames his criticism of corporate America in explicitly
conservative terms, painting rampant consumerism as antithetical
to true conservatism.

The
Meaning of Marriage: Family, State, Market, and Morals
There’s
no denying that the movement to grant legal recognition
to same-sex unions has recently brought the subject of marriage
back to the forefront of public debate. But while many involved
in this debate are quick to voice their opinions on the
subject, few take the time to consider marriage’s
significance in careful detail. The authors of these essays,
however, do just that. Uninterested in cliched talking points
or partisan claptrap, they engage in a serious consideration
of marriage’s meaning and importance. The resulting
product is a careful analysis of the significance of marriage
for the individual, for the family and for political society.
Roger Scruton reminds us in the book’s first essay
that institutions, including marriage, may be viewed externally
or internally, from third-person or first-person perspectives.
Skillfully weaving together literature, history and the
phenomenology of personal experience, Scruton argues that
marriage’s full importance can only be comprehended
through considerations from both perspectives. This essay
is an appropriate choice to precede what follows, because
in subsequent essays, the authors approach the topic mindful
of the differences inherent in these two perspectives and
determined to examine marriage from every angle imaginable.
Furthermore, they are remarkably capable of engaging in
this challenging task, experts as they are in a variety
of fields ranging from law and public policy, philosophy,
sociology, economics, history and political science. Though
the authors are among today’s leading academics and
scholars – from Princeton, Amherst, U Chicago, Stanford,
UVA, and so on – this book is quite accessible to
the lay reader.

GOA was founded in 1975 by Sen. H.L. (Bill) Richardson (now

Creating
the Good Will
A
breakthrough approach to wills and estates, designed to
help you make the hard decisions while keeping your family
happy
In the world of wills and estate planning, tax saving and
asset protection are typically the paramount goals; family
dynamics, emotions, and leaving a meaningful legacy are
secondary considerations at best. The result, predictably,
is often bickering, backstabbing, unmet expectations, and
even litigation after the will is read.
Creating the Good Will focuses on the issues that
most books in this category miss but that matter most in
the end. As a former estate planning attorney and now as
a coach, Elizabeth Arnold has dedicated her career to helping
people develop wills and estate plans that create harmony,
not havoc. She puts the emotional well-being of loved ones
ahead of clever tax- saving structures and teaches readers
how to protect their relationships and values as much as
their hard assets.
In this unique book, Arnold explains how to deal with the
emotional baggage and communication blindspots that can
undo even the most iron-clad legal document. Filled with
resonant anecdotes from her personal and professional life,
along with practical information about wills, estate plans,
guardianship agreements, trusts, and more, Creating
the Good Will is a priceless resource for anyone who
wants to leave a legacy of warmed hearts, not heated heads.
About the Author
Elizabeth Arnold is the founder of Sowing Seeds, a consulting
firm that offers clients an innovative approach to wills
and estate plans. She has a law degree from Harvard University,
an LLM in taxation from New York University, and a BA in
religious studies from Yale. Arnold has been quoted by The
New York Times, USA Today, Time, Better Homes and Gardens,

Black
Gold Stranglehold
Experts
estimate that Americans consume more than 25 percent of
the world's oil but have control over less than 3 percent
of its proven oil supply. This unbalanced pattern of consumption
makes it possible for foreign governments, corrupt political
leaders, terrorist organizations, and oil conglomerates
to hold the economy and the citizens of the United States
in a virtual stranglehold. There is no greater proof of
this than the direct relationship between skyrocketing gas
prices and the explosion of wealth among those who control
the world's supply of oil.
In Black Gold Stranglehold, Jerome Corsi and Craig Smith
expose the fraudulent science that has made America so vulnerable:
the belief that oil is a fossil fuel and that it is a finite
resource. This book reveals the conclusions reached by Dr.
Thomas Gold, a professor at Cornell University, in his seminal
book The Deep Hot Biosphere: The Myth of Fossil Fuels (Copernicus
Books, 1998) and accepted by many in the scientific community
that oil is not a product of fossils and prehistoric forests
but rather the bio-product of a continuing biochemical reaction
below the earth's surface that is brought to attainable
depths by the centrifugal forces of the earth's rotation.
As an expert in tangible assets, Craig Smith provides an
understanding of the history of America's dangerous dissociation
of the dollar with precious-and truly scarce-metals such
as gold and the devastation that would be inflicted on the
U.S. economy if Middle Eastern countries are able to follow
through with current plans to make the euro the standard
currency for oil instead of U.S. dollars.
Black Gold Stranglehold is a thoughtful work that is certain
to dramatically change the debate on oil consumption, oil
dependence, and oil availability.

it comes to telling the truth."
Until now, says Alan Skorski, Franken's continuous smears
against his enemies while promoting himself as the "ultimate
truth teller" have gone unchallenged by the mainstream
media. Surprisingly, even conservative or right-leaning
media have not challenged the falsity of much of what he
says, although Franken does not define what he believes
is a lie, except to say that conservatives "get away
with it." In contrast, Skorski defines a lie as "intentionally
telling an untruth with the purpose of trying to cover up
or get away with something," which he then accuses
Franken of doing with impunity.

Hero Report: Tracy Reep
Tracy Reep was born and raised in Wichita Falls, Texas,
with his older and younger sisters. While growing up Tracy’s
primary interest was sports. He attended SH Rider High
School where he was heavily involved with track and football.
Tracy also had hopes of becoming a doctor when he was
young. His father died of cancer and Tracy hoped to some
day find a cure for his father’ killer. As a student
at Midwestern State University, Tracy joined the Reserves
Officer Training Program in 1988. Initially, he joined
because it helped him pay for school and offered scholarship
opportunities. He enjoyed having the ability to work part-time
as a soldier while continuing his education. In April
of 2003, Tracy was called into battle in Iraq. There Tracy
was tasked as a convoy operator for a security team northwest
of Baghdad. On November 11, 2003, his convoy was ambushed.
The ambush was initiated with two improvised explosive
devices. He was commander of the rear vehicle and sat
in the passenger seat. When they stopped to return fire,
they were attacked with small arms. Tracy exited the vehicle
and went to use the vehicle for cover. Moments later a
rocket propelled grenade was fired and went through the
vehicle, exiting where Tracy was standing. Tracy’s
greatest challenge in returning to the U.S. has been patience.
“I wanted to return to my civilian career, but it
took eight months for me to be completely retired.”
Now that he is back to his civilian job as a recruiter
and developer, he is constantly looking for ways to help
his business grow. His experiences as a have opened a
new door in his life. Tracy is looking forward to the
SAH Conference in December because it will allow him to
learn about benefits that are available, but also to assist
other veterans. With his civilian job, Tracy has the ability
to help other veterans find jobs and start new careers
after the military. Tracy currently lives in Wichita Falls
with his wife Elizabeth, and his two sons, Austin, 11,
and Hunter, 9. He works with a company called Self Opportunity,
which provides development, recruiting, and human resource
services for other companies. Tracy is 35 years old.

Supreme
Chaos: The Politics of Judicial Confirmation & the Culture
War
The
judicial confirmation process is in a state of chaos. America’s
culture war has set the stage for a power struggle reaching
to the highest court in the land—the Supreme Court.
Integrity and ability are no longer the criteria for evaluating
the caliber of a judge. Rather it is one’s position
on hot-button social issues. Without control of the White
House, the House, or the Senate, the Left looks to liberal
activist judges rather than to the American voters or their
elected representatives to create new rights. Americans
who believe in the rule of law must understand and challenge
the liberal notion of a "living Constitution,"
which has politicized the judiciary and provoked today’s
confirmation battles. We are witnessing not only the testing
of the judicial nomination system but a downward spiral
in civility within the U.S. Senate.
Nominees endure partisan conflict rather than a dignified
and respectful legislative process. Liberal special-interest
groups degrade confirmation proceedings into bitter character
assassinations that malign the reputations of nominees.
During his confirmation process, Judge Charles Pickering
waited years to be confirmed and was ultimately forced into
retirement by a Democrat minority unwilling to give him
the decency of an up-or-down vote on the Senate floor.
In Supreme Chaos, Judge Pickering, who faced unprecedented
use of the filibuster by Senate Democrats, provides an insightful
assessment of the situation and argues that we must find
a way out of the quagmire for the sake of the judiciary,
our children and grandchildren, and the rights of all Americans.
Pickering’s vision of a repaired confirmation process
offers hope that order can be restored from the chaos—that
justice under the rule of law as established in the Constitution
will prevail.

The
Problem:
Understanding the illegal immigration problem:
- Illegal
immigration into the United States is out of control,
particularly across our southern border.
- Several
members of Congress and Governors have declared states
of emergency.
- The
problem is not merely the number of illegal immigrants.
In addition to the hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants
from Central and South America, there are several hundreds,
perhaps thousands, of illegal aliens from countries that
sponsor terrorism or harbor terrorists entering the United
States each year across our border with Mexico. Thus,
it is a national security issue as well as an immigration
issue.
The
Solution:
Why is a fence the right solution?
- A
secure, state-of-the-art border fence must be one element
of any comprehensive effort to address the illegal immigration
problem. Similar fences in Israel have reduced terrorist
attacks by up to 95%.
- Until
the border is secured and the tide of illegal immigration
is stemmed, proposals to adjust immigration quotas, whether
up or down, are doomed to ineffectiveness.
- A
border fence is entirely compatible with a guest worker
program. In fact, a guest worker program would be reduced
to irrelevance without such a fence.

Inside
the Asylum: Why the United Nations and Old Europe Are Worse
Than You Think
Book
Description
Babbin details how the United Nations actively pursues anti-American
policies and appeases America's enemies, while being largely
funded by $3 billion worth of annual American dues. After
revealing the depth of rampant corruption in the UN, Babbin
concludes that it is time to recognize the changes in Old
Europe and redesign America's alliances that line up with
America's national interests.
From the Inside Flap
If John Kerry and Hillary Clinton have their way, Kofi Annan
and Jacques Chirac will gain veto power over American foreign
policy. Scared? You should be. It could happen. And in Inside
the Asylum, former deputy undersecretary of defense Jed
Babbin shows just how it could happen and why the UN deserves
the nickname "The Asylum."
In Inside the Asylum, you'll discover:
* How the UN assists international terrorists. Babbin exposes
the shocking links between the UN and terrorist organizations.
* The money trail from the UN to Saddam Hussein. Babbin
rips the veil from the outrageous Oil-for-Food program-proving
that the UN sold its moral legitimacy for oil, stuffed its
own pockets at the expense of the Iraqi people, and undermined
American pressure on Saddam Hussein: the UN's cash cow.
The UN's Oil-for-Food program, according to Babbin, "provided
Saddam Hussein with the means to bribe politicians, to deprive
his people of needed food and medicine, and to literally
steal billions of dollars. There is even emerging evidence
that money from the program might have gone to support al-Qaeda."
